Our new topic has started well and we have received a request from Persimmon homes to help them design homes for a new development that they want to build. The children have been looking at building across different times in history and looking at similarities and differences to how buildings were designed then and now. Next week we will be having a visit from Persimmon homes to tell us what it takes to built a new development and it is then that the children will be set their next challenge!! We cannot believe that we are coming to the end of the half term, the time has flown by since we came back in January. We have also had 2 topics this half term and the children have learnt so much that they deserve their holiday next week. What an exciting start to the new year we have had in Year 3. We received a video message from Father Christmas asking us to help him to learn how to eat healthily and what exercise he could do to improve his fitness. It seems that he has eaten too many mince pies over the Christmas holidays. We have been looking at the skeleton and muscles of the body and how these work together so that we can keep fit. We welcomed a historian Darius Jackson in to Year 3 to present our invaders work and debate which group of invaders have had the most significant impact on Britain. All the children presented their work extremely well and discussions were lively. It was agreed across the year group that the Romans, Vikings and Saxons all had an impact on life as it is in Britain today and that no one group was more effective than another. Now that our new topic Invaders is in full flow and the children are learning about Romans, Saxons and the Vikings we received a visit from Hrothgar on Monday 12th November. He was able to give the children an insight into the life of Viking and what it would have been like to live in those times. The children were full of enthusiasm and were asking lots of excellent and relevant questions.
