Year 3 had a fantastic learning experience on our recent trip to Worcester Cathedral! We have been learning what it is a like to be a Christian in Britain today so we decided to take our learning outside the classroom to explore the questions we had been asking our teachers. During our trip, we had a tour of the Cathedral and learnt all about the different signs and symbols of Christianity and why they are important today. We were given the opportunity to interview Reverend Sally who was able to answer all of our questions about the Christian faith. Our […]

Year 3 have been extremely busy so far this half term exploring the continent of Europe. We have been receiving emails from different families asking us to book holidays on their behalf. We are now learning the necessary skills to become successful travel agents. You will find lots of maps and atlases in our classrooms which are helping us to gain the knowledge that we need to make sure that families will be happy with their holiday destinations.
Year 3 have been busy reading the story of The Minpins this half term. So far, we have read extracts from the text and identified character thoughts, feelings and emotions. We have looked for clues in the text to tell us how a character is feeling and we have made predictions about what we think will happen next. In our English lessons, we have been learning about persuasive writing and have written several persuasive pieces. During democracy week, we enjoyed debating whether or not the Gruncher is a bad character. In other areas of the curriculum, we have learnt to […]
Year three had a fabulous outdoor learning day filled with Viking-themed activities. We learned how to play viking games such as Kingy Bats and Knucklebones, measured out the sizes of Viking Longboats and Knarrs, and developed our spear-throwing techniques. We also used our history knowledge to order important dates on a giant timeline. As part of our Sports Relief activities we also enjoyed a visit from skipping coach Sophie from ‘Dan The Skipping Man’ who taught us skipping tips and tricks. We finished our busy day by showing off our new skills to the rest of KS2.
Lessons were disrupted in Year 3 by the sudden arrival of Hrothgar the Viking! We spent an exciting day exploring Viking weapons and artifacts, learning about Viking life and customs, and acting out Viking myths. Now that we are experts on Vikings, we will be using our knowledge in our MoE, English and history work.
