Becoming experts in local history.
This half term Year 4 are becoming experts in local history and have been asked by Brian from the Royal Enfield Motor bike society to find out more about our town so we can put on an exhibition.
We wrote interview questions for our visitors so we could find the answers to questions like,
“Why is the emblem a cannon, when the factory made motor bikes?”
“Are Royal Enfield motor bikes still made today?”
To help us with this we were very lucky to be visited by the enthusiasts from the society, who brought their Royal Enfield motor bikes with them to show us.
Many of our visitors had worked at the Royal Enfield factory in Redditch and were able to explain to us why the factory no longer exists on modern maps of Redditch.
The children had a fantastic time finding out about the bikes and the factory and our visitors came armed with books, photos and leaflets all about these amazing bikes.
We will now be working hard to put all our information together to create some amazing fact files which we can share with our friends at the Royal Enfield motorbike society.
