On Thursday 28th March Year 3 had a very busy day with the outdoor learning. The weather was in our favour and it was fantastic to see the children enjoying their learning in the spring sunshine. There were many curriculum areas accessed throughout the day that allowed the children to have a wide variety of learning in a fun way.
We used our knowledge in History, Maths, Science and English to enjoy the day. In science, we measured shadows ( when the sun came out) and studied forces by deciding which surface was best for a toy car to travel on. In History we learnt about the different types of Viking ships and the children were amazed at how big they were when they had measured out the sizes accurately using our maths knowledge of measurement. We also used the timeline on our playground to date the construction of famous buildings across time. English was used throughout the day as children were expected to use the correct terminology for all the different areas that they were learning about.
The human knot game seemed to be a hit across the year group and it was great fun to see the children trying to untangle themselves by working together as a team. Teamwork was a big part of the day and all the teachers were extremely proud of their classes in how well they worked together.
