Our new topic has started well and we have received a request from Persimmon homes to help them design homes for a new development that they want to build. The children have been looking at building across different times in history and looking at similarities and differences to how buildings were designed then and now. Next week we will be having a visit from Persimmon homes to tell us what it takes to built a new development and it is then that the children will be set their next challenge!!
In English we are reading the book Beowulf the Brave by Julia Green. So far, the children have rewritten the battle scene that takes place in the Great Hall, and we will be looking at setting descriptions next. The book is full of action and suspense and so far the children are enjoying reading this mythical book.
In maths we have now finished our unit on measurements and we have started our unit on money. We are focusing a lot this term on the children’s ability to reason and explain in their enrichment activities also. We continue to focus on timetables daily with interactive games, chanting and speed testing, and the children are doing extremely well with this new way of learning. Any support you can give at home with timetables would also be beneficial to their understanding.
A fantastic start to the new half term Year 3, keep up the good work.
