We cannot believe that we are coming to the end of the half term, the time has flown by since we came back in January. We have also had 2 topics this half term and the children have learnt so much that they deserve their holiday next week.
In English we have been following the Hindu stories of Ganesh and Rama and Sita. The children have used their recount and diary writing knowledge to write their Ganesh story and diary entries for Rama and Sita.
We had a pause from calculations in Maths over the past 2 weeks and the children have been focusing on measure and concerting different measures. We have also been focusing more on times tables in our afternoon sessions and the children are now becoming very familiar with the counting stick and various activities to help them learn their times tables. Please continue to count in 2,5 and 10’s with your children over the holidays, every little helps!
Science has been the topic of light and we have been looking into what are light sources and what are not light sources. We also learnt that light travels in a straight line and reflects off surfaces in order for our eyes to see the objects. We discovered that the moon is not a light source which surprised a lot of the children.
Enjoy the holidays Year 3 and we look forward to seeing you back in school for our next exciting topic!!
