Does astro photography tool work on Mac?
Planetary imaging on the Mac Large aperture scopes like 6" and above are great for this, and you don't need to have an equatorial mount. Any Alt/Az (Altitude Azimuth) mount will work. A high speed web cam or astro camera and Mac laptop are the only additional entry level hardware requirements.
Is MacBook air good for astrophotography?
The Intel HD graphics of the MacBook is beyond explanation and it is more than enough for astronomers. The battery time of 10 hours is perfect for long hours of work.
Does Registax work on Mac?
Registax itself does not run on Mac OS X. You could set up Boot Camp or get Parallels or VMWare Fusion to run windows on your mac to run registax though (this is what I have done). There is also a program called Lynkeos for planetary image stacking on Mac OS X.

8GB ram and an i3 processor is certainly acceptable, even overkill for most acquisition tasks. However there will be a significant improvement with faster hardware for a few things like plate solving and download times.
